COVID-19 Update: Gabriel Del Corral, M.D., values the health and safety of our patients. Read More about how we are addressing the current situation.

The forehead and eyebrow area are often among the first areas of the face to be affected by wrinkles and furrows, possibly making you look older than you really are. A forehead, or brow lift is designed to reduce these signature signs of age and exhaustion, giving you a more youthful, refreshed appearance by:

  • Smoothing out fine lines and creases
  • Getting rid of excess, sagging skin
  • Alleviating tension between the eyebrows
  • Giving a higher position to the eyebrows

A brow lift is also a relatively quick procedure with minimal recovery time. Candidates are those who are showing signs of age in the forehead area and are in reasonably good health with realistic expectations.

Dr. Del Corral will inquire about your general state of health and fully analyze your eyebrow and forehead for sagginess, asymmetry, skin quality and wrinkles. The position of the hairline, eyebrow and upper eyelids will also be examined and the findings will be discussed with you to plan your treatment. We will listen to you carefully, discuss your expectations and help you make the right decision about your health. The procedure of choice will be thoroughly described; you will be given advice on how to prepare for the operation and how to ease the healing process after surgery.

Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure

The endoscopic brow lift procedure is usually the preferred method among patients. This procedure involves less invasive techniques to perform surgery.

Dr. Del Corral will make very small incisions along the hairline, using tiny, slender instruments to tighten underlying muscles and smooth out the skin. The procedure itself is visualized by images provided by a small camera under the skin and relayed to a computer monitor. This technique cuts down on actual surgery and recovery time, and makes any residual scarring virtually impossible to see.

Traditional Brow Lift Procedure

Traditional brow lift surgery involves one long incision along the hairline, stretching from ear to ear. Scarring from the incision is easily hidden within the hair.

Dr. Del Corral will then tighten the muscles and pull the forehead skin taut to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases.
Brow lift surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis.

For those patients who undergo traditional brow lift surgery, the head must be elevated for several days after the procedure. Numbness and swelling can be expected for a few days following traditional brow lift surgery, but this is only temporary. Any pain and discomfort can be managed with medication.

Endoscopic brow lift patients typically see much shorter recovery times and less residual swelling and numbness. Most patients can return to normal daily activities within seven to 10 days following a brow lift. Those who have had an endoscopic brow lift often resume normal routines even sooner. Brow lift is often combined with facelift or lip augmentation to provide a completely rejuvenated look to the face.

Patients will vary in the time they need to take from work or their normal schedule. Usually though, a patient will require two weeks off work, as well as appearing in public. Once you start to resume your activities, it is advisable to apply makeup gently, and in an upward direction. Tinting or coloring of your hair should be put off till at least four weeks after the operation.

If you are considering a brow lift we encourage you to contact us to schedule a consultation and/or treatment at Dr. Del Corral’s office. During this visit we will listen to your concerns and discuss your options. After careful analysis, we will tell you whether you are a suitable candidate for this procedure and inform you of the alternatives and potential risks of the procedure.
